Whale Watching Season: November - March

Highlight your vacation with Sayulita's only whale watching sail boat cruise. We sail daily at 9am, November through March from the picturesque La Cruz Harbor, just a 15 minute drive from Sayulita. You can choose to meet us at the harbor or at our offices in Sayulita.

About the whales:

These majestic animals come to the warm waters of the Mexican Riviera to have their babies and feed on the plentiful supply of fish. The Mexican Riviera is a destination along their migratory routes and allows them to rest, eat and have their offspring before continuing south to colder waters. We will try to get as close as possible, but we are also very respectful of their natural habitat.

*Our cruises not only include whale sightings, but sightings of dolphins, sea turtles, migratory birds, and other wildlife.

Full day cruises include a fresh fruit breakfast, delicious lunch, a selection of fresh local fruits, guacomole, salsa and fresh fish when available. Beer, wine, soft drinks and spirits are also available.

Weddings

Plan a day aboard the Sayula1 for that special occasion. We will make your unforgettable day - unforgettable! Make sure to get in touch with us early to reserve the boat. We can also help you customize your event. Whether you're looking for a full day on the sea, a reception, or a sunset cruise with a champagne toast and hors d'œuvres.

Make it as fancy or laid back as you like. We are happy to help. Our boat can accomodate up to 40 guests. Special meal requests honored.

Fishing

Sayulita, once a sleepy fishing village and now a popular tourist destination, still retains all of it's old world fishing charm. With plentiful fresh fish to catch, you're guaranteed a fun time!

About the fish in Mexico:

Very rarely is any fish known by only a single name. There are inevitable local and regional variations. In Mexico the prized gamefish called the "dorado", refers to a "dolphin," "dolphinfish," or "mahi-mahi". Also popular are grouper, snapper, bonito, kingfish, roosterfish, plus many more.

Bring your catch to a local restaurant to have them prepare it your favorite way, whether it's the popular "ceviche" or have it grilled just right. We can also serve it up on the boat for you if you prefer!

Sunset Sail

Experience the gorgeous sunsets of the Mexican Riviera from your front row seat aboard the Sayula1. You're guaranteed a magical experience. The sunset cruise leaves at 4pm - meet at our office in Sayulita or at the marina, which is a 15 minute drive from Sayulita.

Make sure to bring along your iPod and swim gear and enjoy drinks on the deck as the sun sets to your favorite tunes. Please make sure to arrange your sunset sail ahead of time as we go out on days that we don't have full day charters scheduled.

Surfing and Snorkeling Charters

Surfing

Sayulita is known as a surf paradise for it's warm waters and many consistent beach breaks. And there are many of surf spots to choose from, including the more secluded and hard to reach spots like "El Farrow" (The Lighthouse). Owner/operator and guide Darrin B. Rath knows the waters well and can take you to the best surf spots with the fewest people. He and his crew often take guests on surf charters to enjoy these perfect waves.

Snorkeling

You dont' have to be a diver to see tropical fish in Mexico! A lot of the reef (that often looks like rock) is close enough to the surface that snorkelers can see as many fish and coral formations as divers. Anyone who can swim can snorkel, it just takes a little practice. Two tricks are to spit inside your mask before putting it on (so your mask won't fog up) and make a strong "TOO" sound to blow the water out of your snorkel.

Most of the area's fish are not dangerous, but please don't chase, corner, or poke them as even the littlest fish can turn in self defense. Also please be aware that reef can often look like rock, so don't touch or stand on it, as it is a living entity that supports lots of other sea life and is damaged by touch. Breaking off even a tiny piece could undo 10 years of growth. And most of all relax and enjoy the experience!
